November 8

Social Studies: Mapping
We have continued learning about mapping by exploring our community and our city on Google Maps. We mapped out landmarks on our map of Calgary and are learning to use the compass rose to locate them from Evanston. You might want to ask your child what a landmark is, what landmarks they know of in Calgary, and what direction they are from our community.

Happy International S.T.E.A.M. Day

Today we celebrated with a challenge to build the highest object out of Playdough. We ran into some challenges learning that Playdough doesn't have enough strength to support increasing height. Others realized that if you build a sturdy base there was not enough Playdough to build higher. Students found that having a support structure (pencil) like the bones in our body help strengthen the structure.
