Math:
Division
We are beginning our division unit. We learning strategies for dividing numbers. They are the same as multiplication, just in reverse.
Measurement
We are also learning about measurement. Today we brain stormed all the ways we could measure: We came up with:
- length
- width
- height
- weight
- temperature
- colour
- capacity
- irregular measurement (feet, hands etc.)

Mother's Day
We have been working hard getting some gifts ready for our mom's. No peeking until Sunday!

Assembly
This week we wrote a rap song about our experience at Seed School. We have kicked in a beat and are now practicing our rhymes. Some of you may recognize the track.

Students have been encouraged to practice extra at home. It has some difficult parts.
The lyrics are below and as is a link to the music.

The Mustard Seed Rap: Created by Mr. Straiton's Grade 3 class
Kenneth D. Taylor School

Now this is a story all about how
Lots of people’s lives got turned right around
It’s a feel good story
So listen to me
How The Mustard Seed Helps in the YYC

(pause)
A long time ago before there was me
Our pal Pat Nixon had a great big dream
He saw all the homeless and saw a great need
And we know he’d been there so he had Empathy
In the base of a church he was doing some good
Feeding the poor in his neighbourhood
It started out pretty small but it grew pretty big
The ripple effect of the growing mustard seed

Its really quite sad we have homeless living here
But thankfully the Mustard Seed is ready and near
To offer a bed, a shelter from cold
And take people IN, Inn From the Cold

(pause)
They feed the hungry, and clothe the poor
And help people find their forever shelter
Finding jobs, and giving medical care
The Mustard Seed is in the business of care

A beam of hope in the downtown core
Bringing homeless in through an open door
Its changing people’s lives and giving them hope
Seed does so much more this is just a footnote

Now We know of our responsibility
And now were inspired, Thanks to stories like Keely’s
Our experience taught us that we can bring cheer
Just by saying hello rather than showing them fear
We can make a person’s day Just by saying hello
IT’s the rights thing to do because we all know Y.O.L.O
I can even do more, like donate or volunteer
Seed School has been: Highlight of the year
