April 25

Math: Multiplication
Multiplication strategy of the week:  Grouping

4 X 3: means 4 groups of 3.
Have your child show you how to group to solve single digit multiplication questions.

Science:

We have been learning about hearing and sound.
Students have been working through various experiments and activities exploring sound. We have compared how pitch (high and low) and volume (loud and quiet) affect wavelengths. Students are exploring how the ear turns vibrations into messages that are sent to the brain. They have been writing a paragraph describing the sounds journey through the ear. Our class has also been learning about hearing safety. Part of learning about safety is knowing what level of sound is dangerous, and what makes sounds that could cause damage to our hearing.
Ask your child about what sounds are safe for their ears and what sounds are dangerous.

They can even show you a website that helps explain hearing safety. Dangerous Decibels

Social Studies:
We have been working through independent research project on one of three countries: India, Ukraine and Tunisia. Students chose one of the countries, have researched that country, and are now beginning to create a poster or pamphlet for their country.
